The Center for Anthroposophy is temporarily located on High Mowing School campus across the road from the Pine Hill Waldorf School in Wilton, New Hampshire. The Center is actively pursuing their own building near both schools.
Nestled within rolling hills in southern New Hampshire, Wilton is semi-rural with many farms and a downtown “village” situated along the Souhegan River and a local railroad line. Downtown establishments include several restaurants, antique stores, a store for casual clothing and magazines (with an honest-to-goodness penny candy counter), art supply store, small grocery, a candy factory, and two cafes that sponsor “open mike” nights along with local entertainers. There is also The Wilton Town Hall Theater, an independent movie house that shows art films and classics as well as popular movies of the day. Nearby, the local library, an architectural treasure, is worth visiting just to see its floors and ceilings.
Downtown Wilton can easily be navigated on foot. The surrounding countryside makes for interesting, although somewhat challenging biking because of the hilly terrain. However, the most practical way to get around is by car due to lack of public transit.
Day hiking around Wilton can include the local reservoir and waterfall or, for great views, a trip up Pack Monadnock just to the west. There are also several areas of woodland conservation within Wilton or nearby Peterborough for hiking.
Wilton is located on Route 101, an east/west route traversing the southern portion of New Hampshire. The town lies almost exactly between the New Hampshire seacoast and the Vermont border.
From the East: Take Route 101 West towards Wilton - from Manchester simply get on 101 West; from Nashua take 101A (exists 7 or 8 off Route 3) about 8 miles to 101 West. After skirting Milford on 101 you will encounter three traffic lights. About 1 mile past the third traffic light you will see signs for High Mowing School and Pine Hill Waldorf Auditorium. Turn left onto Abbot Hill Road.
From the West: Take Route 101 East towards Wilton. About a mile past the intersection of 101 and 31 South you will see signs for High Mowing School and Pine Hill Waldorf Auditorium. Turn right onto Abbot Hill Road.
