A deepening of the practice of sculpture (clay modeling) in its fundamental artistic principles constitutes the basis of this course. The importance and relevance of the artistic exercises as supportive of adolescent development is discussed, especially in relation to the content of Rudolf Steiner's Foundations of Human Experience. Appropriate curriculum indications are included.
Following an introduction to the day's theme, classes consist of demonstrations and guided exercises, plus individual work on given themes and group projects.
Week 1: Techniques of sculpting; Flat and curved surfaces; Platonic solids
Week 2: Contrast/polarity in form; Three-foldness, balance, rhythm; Metamorphosis
Week 3: Human and animal forms
Week 4: Metamorphosis of form in skeletal anatomy
