Life Sciences - Biology (HS 320b)

Learning Goals

The students learn how Waldorf Education and a goethean/phenomenological approach to science are applied and developed in the teaching of biology in a Waldorf high school from grades 9-12.

Course Content

The seminar focuses on:

 

  • How the biology curriculum in grades 9 to 12 can help students learn complex and holistic thinking.
  • Content out of the curriculum: the heart and circulatory system (grade 10); botany and the characteristics of plant families (grade 12).
  • The form ("gestalt") of a main lesson.
  • Presentations and discussions of research projects by second and third year students.
