“The ideal situation would be to pursue our esoteric training among green plants and sunny mountains, surrounded by the loveliness of nature’s simplicity.” –– Rudolf Steiner, How to Know Higher Worlds
Nature has played a monumental role in the pursuit of enlightenment and in our experiences with enlightened consciousness. There are very definite reasons for this, notably because the divine is much easier to recognize in its “natural state” than in our everyday “created” lives.
As a society we have become increasingly detached from the earth, from the source of our food, and from the inner workings of nature. Yet we ever have the opportunity to reconnect with nature at close hand — through our own gardens, backyards, and neighborhoods.
Over the five days, we will explore our connections with nature, our gardens, and farms through many different meditations and presentations. The meditations are designed to deepen our connection with nature, but can also be applied in any of life’s situations. Brief exercises will involve writing, photography, darkness (night), and our own senses.
We will explore the biodynamic workings of the garden: creating an urban garden, beginning a gardening program, or gardening with children. Practical tips for teachers will be featured, and participants will have the chance to experience the biodynamic preparations.
